Alurgite Cabochon

Alurgite is a form of Muscovite.  Its name is derived from a Greek word and means "genuine purple dye from the sea" referring to its red-purple color.  It also has tiny bits of sparkle in the stone.

The cabochon measures 35 x 17 x 4.1 mm.  It has a girdle height approx. 1.8 mm and is sloped at 5 degrees for ease in setting.  The back is also polished.
