Tinted Doublets

Lapidary artists started making doublets back in the 1950's.  A doublet is 2 stones glued together sometimes for strength and other times for effect.  We use a colorant in the epoxy while gluing the two stones together.  The top layer will have clear agate or quartz to allow the colorant in the epoxy to show through giving the stone a unique look.  Since the colorant we use is made from mica stone there is often a flash.
