Stitch Ammonite Fossil Cabochon

This is the fossilized shell of an Ammonite, a species of cephalopod that died out around 66 million years ago.  "Stitch" refers to the this specific pattern.  This material is from Morocco.

The cabochon measures 31 x 26 x 5.3 mm.  It has a girdle height approx. 3.6 mm and is sloped at 5 degrees for ease in setting.  The back is also polished.
